You can take a surprisingly beautiful walk around Kessel in Limburg. You will discover the Heldense Bossen, the beauty of the Maas and the centuries-old castle history of Kessel.
Heroic Forests
At IJssalon Clevers Kessel, enjoy an ice cream on the cozy terrace before you set off. You will soon walk into the Heldense Bossen. Here you walk through a mosaic of pine forests, small-scale arable land, fens and small heathlands. Right through the forests there are still remnants of the old land defense: a raised earthen wall that was planted with thorny shrubs to stop traveling gangs of robbers. What a silence you experience here!
Picturesque Kessel
From the woods you walk to the Musschenberg nature reserve. From the top of the hill you have a beautiful view over the Maas valley. The footpath then leads you through the meadows. A little later you walk along a car-free road into Kessel. Here you will see some monumental buildings and the Church of Our Lady's Nativity from 1873. Keverberg Castle is a uniquely restored ruin. Here you will find out more about the special history of Baron Frits.
