Walking through the dunes near Bergen aan Zee

Between Bergen aan Zee and Egmond aan Zee lies an extensive dune and forest area. Ideal to explore on foot. And of course this route also takes you a few kilometers along the beach.

How wonderful it is to walk along the wide North Holland beach. While you look out over the North Sea, you hear the characteristically soothing sound of the surf. Around you, people enjoy the beach in different ways: with a book, a dive or a shovel to dig a moat around a sand castle. When the weather is nice, you can even take a dip yourself, it remains a nice way to freshen up.

Beautiful dune panoramas
At Egmond aan Zee you walk up the edge of the dunes. Some peaks are more than thirty meters high, so that you occasionally have beautiful panoramas over the dunes and the polder landscape behind them. The wind has less to say here. Especially when you walk into the dune forest, you suddenly become aware of the silence. The route ends at the cozy Hotel Meyer in the picturesque Bergen aan Zee.
