Cross the German border from Oldenzaal

In addition to the Twente scenic landscape, you also drive through some nature reserves, such as Het Haagse Bos near Losser. In the Lutterzand you will find a mix of sand drifts and deciduous forest. The area is intersected by the Dinkel. This stream has carved out some beautiful steep banks in the landscape. Just before Oldenzaal you drive over the Tankenberg, at 85 meters the highest point in the province of Overijssel. From this hill you look out over the beautiful surroundings. And you will understand even better why Oldenzaal once nicknamed itself the Smile of Twente. In the historic center of Oldenzaal you can still admire the thirteenth-century St. Plechelmus Basilica. At Kaamps Estate you can enjoy a coffee with farm cake or a nice thick farm sandwich with Kaamps cheese.
