Description
This route through the Walcheren region takes you largely along the coast. The Zeeland coast is simply beautiful and you should of course make optimal use of it on your bike. Get on your steel steed and let your head clear.
Mills and old villages
The starting point of this cycle route is located on the sea between Westkapelle and Domburg. From here you cycle past fields and meadows to the town of Grijpskerke. Here you can admire the't Welvaaren Van Grijpskerke mill. The current mill was built in 1801. Nowadays the mill is no longer suitable for grinding due to the lack of an upper wheel and because a house has been built next to the mill. The next mill on the route is De Graanhalm, just outside Gapinge. This mill from 1847 is still operational today. From Gapinge you cycle further to the historic village of Veere.
Westkapelle
Near the end of this cycle route you will find Westkapelle. This town is located on the westernmost point of the former island of Walcheren. The story goes that this town was founded during the time of the Vikings. The city is mainly known for the lighthouse 'Het Hoge Licht', which was created from the remains of a Gothic church that burned down in the 18th century. Another attraction in Westkapelle is the Westkappelse Zeedijk.
