Tour of Haarzuilens, Utrecht and Vecht

De Haar Castle, the picturesque village of Haarzuilens, the country estates along the meandering Vecht... this route takes you past the most beautiful historical places! You start at Restaurant't Ryck/Buitenplaats Kameryck. Haarzuilens is known for the nearby Kasteel de Haar, which you cycle to first. This largest castle in the Netherlands is definitely worth a visit, just like the gardens. The original fortress was probably built in the 12th century, the ruins served as the basis for the current castle in 1892. After a loop through the heart of Utrecht, you follow the beautifully winding Vecht to Breukelen. Here you can fully enjoy an idyllic environment of park forests, country estates, old village streets and vast grasslands. You drive back through the vast polder around Kockengen.
