Description

Your route starts at Restaurant de Boswachter. The Koelbroek originated from an old Meuse meander. You mainly walk through an alder forest. In the southern part of this wet reserve you can see large buttercup, blackcurrant and marsh marigold. A little further on you can walk across the Crayelheide. This nature reserve consists of a mosaic of hedgerows, grasslands, forest and stream valley. In the landscape there is an almost 5 meter high work of art that refers to the executions that were carried out here. The Blerickse Bergen consists of a gently sloping area of former drifting dunes. Mostly coniferous trees grow in the dry soil. It is wonderfully peaceful to walk here, especially near the Mortelsven. Some more deciduous trees grow around this fen. At the edge of the forest you sometimes hear the meowing of a buzzard.
