TOP Nature walking route De Loonse and Drunense Duinen

Is there a better place for a beautiful walk than De Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park? This natural area covers an area larger than more than seven thousand football fields and is notable for the extraordinary diversity of the landscape. Within this park you will find vast sandy plains, next to forests, water features and enchanting purple heaths.

The beautiful nature reserve is also called the Brabant Sahara. Relax on the enormous drifting sand plains. The wind has free rein and effortlessly blows your thoughts away, but also ensures that the landscape is constantly changing. That, and the changing of the seasons, make every visit a new experience. Marvel at the bushy trees and enjoy the beautiful view from the dune tops.

You might even come across the flock of sheep. The sheep keep the heath short and eat away young trees. In this way they keep the area open and the heath turns beautiful purple every year in the months of August and September.

Around the dunes you will find cozy catering establishments, including the Brabantse Natuurpoorten, recognizable by the four-meter high key; a great starting point to get informed, discover nature, relax and be active outside.
