Tour Monnickendam-Marken-Volendam-Monnickendam

Depart from the beautiful historic Orphanage in Monnickendam (bike rental & apple pie in the beautiful tea garden) for a nice bike ride of 32.5 km around the Gouwzee. 

In Marken, the lighthouse (Het Paard van Marken) is highly recommended. Always photogenic, whatever the weather. Visit the Markermuseum and then take the boat (including bicycle) to Volendam. If you are frightened by the mass tourism on the Dijk, hurry quickly towards Katwoude. A great lunch spot is Smit Bokkum with a terrace on the water. Enjoy home-smoked eel, salmon and other delicacies.

The farm of the Honigh fam is a must for children, a nice place to play and delicious ice creams for sale. 

Also nice to visit in Katwoude is Henri Willig's cheese farm Jacobs Hoeve (free entrance).

After this you cycle back to Monnickendam. In the Orphanage (Weezenland 16) you can chat and rest in the tea garden after this round of Gouwzee. Public secret: they sell the most delicious homemade apple pie here
