The previous route is
426738 This is the 16th route of the"Tour of the Netherlands\\\"\\\' series. We drive the route in laps of 40 to 50 kilometers. We drive by car and bicycle to the point where we ended and then follow the'\\\'Route\\\'\\\' for about 20 to 25 km. and then drive back via a different route.
We park the car in Alphen near the village center at a sports field.
The Roman Catholic church of Alphen with the 60 meter high tower dates from 1559. The nave was rebuilt in 1909. The tower had fallen on it. We leave Alphen via the Maastrichterbaan. This was a connecting road between Breda and Maastricht for a very long time (80 Years' War until 1800). Just out of the village on this road is the Willibrordusputje (1937). The legend is written in detail on a sign. From Alphen to Ulvenhout we cycle through lovely forests on good cycle paths. First many conifers and then in the Ulvenhout area
only deciduous forest. These are the Chaam forests and the Ulvenhout forest (developed hunting forest). Along the way we visit a flower and herb garden, in which a lot of work still needs to be done. At junction 38 you could cycle to the Anneville country house. Queen Wilhelmina resided here at the end of the war. The south was liberated earlier than the northern part. We took a quick look at Ulvenhout. Further cycling takes us to the bridge over the Boven Mark (Kn.p. 36). We continue the route along the beautiful stream and turn off again at 43 in the direction of Chaam (pronounced'\\\'kaam\\\'\\\'). I learned this statement from a baker from Ulvenhout. Chaam is known for the 8 of Chaam. They seem to cycle a figure-eight circle eight times. Through farmlands and forests we arrive back at our starting point. A very beautiful route!
