Day 3 of 5: from Dordrecht to Aalst (overnight stay in Eethen)

We had a beautiful sunny day with many ferries and cycled over 80 km

We were woken up this morning by thunder. By the time we had packed up and had breakfast it was dry and the sun was shining. It was the day of the ferries, the Dutch vistas with windmills, sheep, cows, poultry, the beautiful clouds, alternately full in the sun, a bit of shade, De Biesbosch, Loevestein Castle, Woudrichem and all kinds of villages that lie below the dike and with their thatched roofs stick out above the dike.

Coffee with cherry crumble pie at Fort Bakkerskil, an unexpected meeting with my niece Monique and her husband BoB and 2 of their friends on the dike near Aalst.

At junction 99 in Veen we deviated from the route (99-64-66-62-57-Eethen) because we could only go there together with 5 people.

A friendly welcome by Tonnie and her husband from Vrienden op de Fiets in Eethen. Beautiful rooms for 5 people in a beautiful large house with an even more beautiful large garden full of flowers, a pond and chickens, various sitting areas / gazebos; completely self-built. A feast for the eyes.

Get changed and cycle to Genderen to eat at the Hert van Genderen
