Day 3 of 5: from Dordrecht to Aalst (overnight stay in Eethen)
We had a beautiful sunny day with many ferries and cycled more than 80 km
We were woken up this morning by thunder. By the time we packed up and had breakfast it was dry and the sun was shining. It was the day of the ferries, the Dutch views with windmills, sheep, cows, poultry, the beautiful clouds, alternately full sun, a little shade, De Biesbosch, Slot Loevestein, Woudrichem and all kinds of villages that lie under the dike and with their thatched roofs protruding above the dike.
Coffee with crumb cherry pie at Fort Bakkerskil, an unexpected meeting with my niece Monique and her husband BoB and 2 of their friends on the dike near Aalst.
We deviated from the route at junction 99 in Veen (99-64-66-62-57-Eethen) because we could only go there together with 5 people.
A friendly welcome by Tonnie and her husband from Vrienden op de Fiets in Eethen. Beautiful rooms for 5 people in a beautiful large house with an even more beautiful large garden full of flowers, a pond and chickens, various seating areas / gazebos; completely self-constructed. A lust for the eye.
Just change clothes and cycle to Genderen to eat at the Hert van Genderen
