Historic center Roermond | Grathemer water mill | Leudal

You cycle from Haelen via Horn into the historic center of Roermond. It is worthwhile to stop here and explore the beautiful old center on foot. Continue your route along the bustling banks of the Maas and cross it again at Wessem. Wessem, with nice terraces on the Maas, has a protected cityscape with historic buildings such as the St. Medardus Church and the former town hall. Via Thorn you cycle to the Grathemer watermill in the center of Grathem.

Continue your route via Baexem to the forests of the Leudal. The stream valleys in the Leudal are of picturesque beauty. They are covered with largely natural forest with hazel, birch and willow. The Zelsterbeek and the Leubeek meander between the trees. Over centuries, the water has carved the stream valleys so deeply that a kind of ravines have been created. At the transition from higher to lower ground, rainwater has carved out hollow roads that make for idyllic cycling. The route ends shortly after you leave Haelen.
