Sint Leonarduskapel Koningslust | Heroic Forests | Keverberg Castle Kessel | The maas
From Maasbree you cycle through the beautiful and varied landscape of North Limburg. You will soon reach the special Koningslust, whose name refers to Petrus de Koning who bought land here on a large scale in 1795. Koningslust, or'king's lust\\\', owes its name to him. Here you will also find the Saint Leonard's Chapel, dedicated to Saint Leonard of Nobla, the patron saint of farmers and livestock, (copper)smiths, fruit traders and grocers. A special history in a nutshell.
Continue your tour and reach the special nature reserve the Gruise Epper via Panningen and Helden, extensive forests with wide sandy avenues and intimate forest paths. Then you cycle towards the Maas after which you reach Kessel with the special De Keverberg castle, one of the oldest castles in our country. The origins of the castle date back to the year 950 when the Counts of Kessel built a large stone tower that was restored around 2015. You return along the Maas bank to the starting point in Maasbree.
