Description

This walking tour shows you two Groningen faces. In Beerta you can experience the rich Groningen history. And in the village of Blauwestad you will get to know a twentieth-century village that was named after the project to which it owes its existence.

Reiderwolde
On the east side of Blauwestad you walk through the Reiderwolde. This new nature reserve consists of a mosaic of forests, grasslands, fruit trees, marshes and pools. In the southern part, on one of the hills, there is a brick-red watchtower of about seven meters. From the top you have a beautiful view over the Oldambtmeer and some places in the area, such as Finsterwolde.

Memory lane
In Beerta you walk through memory lane, so to speak. Especially on the Hoofdweg are many monuments, such as stately buildings and Groningen manor houses. You can also see the late Gothic Saint Bartholomew's Church here, which was originally built in 1506. The detached tower dates from 1806.
