From Ootmarsum to Egheria

Your adventure starts in the picturesque town of Ootmarsum, known for its charming streets and rich history. From here you can go out to discover the beautiful Twente area. Wind along the river Dinkel and admire the Sliding House Tilligte and the watermill at the Singraven estate along the way.

Brave the Hakenberg for beautiful views of the mystical landscape. You will also find a viewpoint at the Paasberg, where you can look out over the forests, pools and fields with wild flowers and corn. This hill is steeped in history and myths. According to legend, pagan rituals used to be performed here for the annual spring festivals.

The absolute highlight is the special nature reserve and quiet area Egheria, located between Oldenzaal and De Lutte. This estate was previously owned by the textile baron Ten Cate. He named the estate after his four sons: Egbert, Hendrink, Richard and Arnold.

The high Tankenberg, no less than 85 meters high, is the heart. From the family's former tea dome at the top you have a magnificent view of this beautiful, but above all, quiet nature reserve. The only thing you hear here is the rustling wind through the trees, the whistling of the birds and the babbling of the streams.

Via the edge of Oldenzaal you follow the junctions through the leafy bocage landscape back to Ootmarsum.
