Walking route Appeltern - Photo walking club Wijchen

Route to idea by Ruud Stolle (thanks for that).

Deviation from his suggestion:

1) on the way there via the Kasteellaan, instead of along the Walstraat (we will walk back along).

2) a piece of parallel road along Koningsstraat and Van Rechterenstraat . The disadvantage is (at least it seems) you have to walk a bit to get to the Meneer Smitsstraat . If that extra bit doesn't work, we'll stick to Ruud\\\'s plan.

We start walking at 9:30 am from De Tuut , the steam pumping station in Appeltern. We can park on the lawn in front of it or store our bicycles in front of the Tuut itself.

Then we enter the Walstraat, walk along the Heerlijkheid Appeltern and immediately turn left into the Kasteelstraat . At the end of it we turn left, into the Elberseweg .

According to Routiq, a little further on is a path to the left, followed immediately by a path to the right. You then walk more or less parallel to the main road, but more through the'thrush\\\'.

Unfortunately, that path does not have a passage to the Van Rechterenstraat at the level of the Meneer Smitsstraat , so we have to walk out of the path and then left twice to enter the Van Rechterenstraat .

From the Van Rechterenstraat we take the 3rd street on the left (the aforementioned Meneer Smitsstraat ). At the end of it a left / right combination to continue in the Van der Capellenstraat . We continue to follow that street, so also with the bend to the left, to arrive at the Kerkstraat . There we turn left past the beautiful church of Appeltern. The road changes into the Maasdijk again towards the Tuut, but we continue to follow the Maasdijk .

Past the parking lot at De Tuut we turn left onto the road (also called De Tuut ) and walk along the small lake behind De Tuut. A little further, when the lake becomes narrower, there is a crossing to the Walstraat . There we turn left, now really towards De Tuut, where we can have coffee or something more...
