The Koelbroek originated from an old Meuse meander. In the nineteenth century, peat was still extracted here and plenty of firewood was collected. Fish such as pike and bream were caught in the water and sold on the Venlo market. Nowadays the area is deserted. Seepage water does occur naturally, so the path can be wet. You mainly walk through an alder forest. In the southern part of this reserve you can see large buttercup, blackcurrant and marsh marigold. Boekend is a typical friendly Limburg church village in the low terrace of the Maas. After your walk you can enjoy a delicious meal and relax at Hotel-Restaurant Maashof.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
