Description
In the vicinity of Maarssen you can make beautiful cycling trips. This route takes you along the Maarsseveense Plassen and the meandering Vecht where you will see many stately country houses.
Loosdrecht Lakes
At the Loosdrechtse Plassen you drive through a picturesque landscape where different bodies of water are separated by dikes and islands. You have beautiful views here, so step off to enjoy the surroundings. In Oud-Loosdrecht you can still see many monumental farms and houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries on the dike. A little later you drive past Fort Spion, the fortification from 1847 that was part of the New Dutch Waterline.
