Hiking on North Beveland

You can get a breath of fresh air in the wide polders of Noord-Beveland. This walk takes you through Kamperland and the surrounding area.

Veer Lake
Walking in Zeeland means enjoying the high skies. The clouds rarely stand still, tossed as they are by the ever-active sea breeze. In the polders you have beautiful views over vast meadows. Many flowers grow along the edges of the fields in the summer. You walk through Plankendorp, a hamlet of about ten dike houses. You can also walk along the banks of the Veerse Meer. Bring binoculars to spot the many birds.

Kamperland
Kamperland was founded around the year 1000. During the infamous All Saints Flood of 1532, the old village, like all of North Beveland, disappeared under water. It took more than sixty years before people dared to reclaim the island bit by bit. Kamperland was also rebuilt. In the cozy village you can visit the impressive Zeeuws Planetarium, among other things. At Pension Kamperland you can spend the night, but at set times you can also enjoy a snack and drink on the terrace.
