Tour of Veerse Meer and Neeltje Jans

Your route starts at Bicycle Shop Kamperland. A ferry takes you to Veere, one of the most beautiful fortified towns in the Netherlands. In this historic and atmospheric town you can admire the Grote Kerk from 1348, for example. The town hall with its beautiful facade dates from the fifteenth century. On the quay is the De Scottish Huizen Museum, which is housed in two sixteenth-century monuments. A little later you look out over the Oosterschelde, the storm surge barrier and the North Sea. Neeltje Jans - accessible with a small detour from junction 4 - served as a work island during the construction of the storm surge barrier. Wind and weather have now turned Neeltje Jans into a beautiful dune landscape that is held together by marram grass and sea buckthorn. On the island you can visit an information center about the Delta Works.
