Description

Your route starts at Fietswinkel Kamperland. A ferry takes you to Veere, one of the most beautiful fortified towns in the Netherlands. In this historic and attractive town you can admire the Grote Kerk from 1348, for example. The town hall with its beautiful facade dates from the fifteenth century. The Scottish Houses Museum is located on the quay and is housed in two sixteenth-century monuments. A little later you look out over the Oosterschelde, the storm surge barrier and the North Sea. Neeltje Jans - which can be reached with a small detour from junction 4 - served as a work island during the construction of the storm surge barrier. In the meantime, wind and weather have turned Neeltje Jans into a beautiful dune landscape that is held together by marram grass and sea buckthorn. On the island you can visit an information center about the Delta Works.
