Hike Engbergen and Gendringen

This route takes you through Gendringen and the surrounding area. You start this walk on the edge of Engbergen: a river dune located on the Oude IJssel. In this nature reserve you can enjoy a wonderfully peaceful walk through a park-like environment of forest and grasslands. After a while you cross the Oude IJssel. This river originates in Germany and flows into the IJssel near Doesburg. In Gendringen you will see the fifteenth-century St. Martin's Church and the Martinus Church from 1896 a short distance apart. You can leisurely walk back into the countryside, where you will pass Camping't Zwaantje. You walk a bit along the border with Germany, then follow the Oude IJssel downstream. Near junction Y22 you will see a lookout tower. You walk through the forest to the parking lot.
