You start the route at the edge of the Oldambtmeer. Via the Midwolderbos you drive to Midwolda and Finsterwolde, two towns with beautiful ancient churches. A little later you enter Oudeschans, a former fortress that enjoys a protected village view. The beautiful monumental Garrison Church was built in 1626. Bellingwolde also enjoys a protected village view. In Oude Pekela you cross the Pekel A, the river from which the former peat colony takes its name. You can see De Onrust, a flour mill from 1850. A little further on you can make a leisurely stopover at Brasserie-Restaurant Pekelahof to regain your strength with a snack and drink. In Winschoten you cycle along the Stadspark. In the southern part is the largest rosarium in the Netherlands, in the summer months 320 different types of roses bloom here.
