Description

From the starting point of this route you cycle to the historic town of Veere. The town is located on the Canal through Walcheren and the Veerse Meer. In the 16th century the town flourished because it became the warehouse for Scottish wool. Later the trading town turned into a fishing port. In Veere you will find numerous monumental buildings, including the old town hall from the 15th century and the Scottish Huizen aan de Kaai that were built in the 16th century by wealthy Scottish merchants. Just outside Gapinge you cycle past Molen De Graanhalm. This mill was built in 1896 as a replacement for an older mill. In Vrouwenpolder you will pass the Pilgrim Church from 1622.
