Walk Laren and Huis Verwolde

From Laren in Gelderland you can take a beautiful walk through the small-scale Achterhoek scenic landscape. Here you will find a mix of fields and meadows, streams, hedgerows and tree-lined avenues. During your walk you will pass some old characteristic farms. You will also pass Huis Verwolde. This country estate was built in 1776 in neoclassical style, the client was Frederik Willem baron van der Borch. Further along the path you will pass a few special trees. The most striking is the Dikke Boom: a pedunculate oak of about four centuries old that has a circumference of 7.75 meters. You walk back to Laren over sandy paths and car-free roads. Here you will pass, among other things, the Reformed Church that was completed in 1835. The route ends with a delicious meal at Grand Café Bistro-rant 't Langenbaergh.
