Hereford Cattle and Scottish Highlander

East of Haaksbergen you can enjoy a wonderfully quiet day out. For example, you drive a bit through the forests on the German-Dutch border. Further on you pass through the lovely Buurserbeek valley. Just across the border you pass the Haarmühle here. This water mill originally dates from 1619, although there was already a mill there before that time. Het Witte Veen is a cross-border nature reserve where you cycle through forest and moist heathland. In nearby Buurserzand you will find dry drifting sand and old juniper bushes. You make a shortcut through the pleasant Haaksbergen, passing the old Market. Finally, you cycle through the Haaksbergerveen, which is grazed by Scottish Highlanders and a herd of Hereford cattle. The route ends at Boerderijcamping De Beek.
