Haarmühle route

This route takes you through the beautiful nature near Haaksbergen. While you drive on car-free roads and cycle paths, you can fully enjoy the peace and variety of natural beauty. Just past the village of Buurse you pass through the Witte Veen. This humid nature reserve is a remnant of a large raised bog area that once lay in the border region of Germany and the Netherlands. Further on you drive through the Buurserzand. Here you will find dry drifting sand, heathlands and old juniper bushes. You cycle through Het Lankheet around junction 53. This estate consists of a mix of forest, streams, heathlands and fens. Finally, you drive through the Haaksbergerveen with its characteristic raised bog vegetation. The area is grazed by Scottish Highlanders and Hereford cattle. At Boerderijcamping De Beek you can enjoy the peace and quiet of Twente.
