Tour of Monnickendam and Waterland from Volendam

Your route starts at Restaurant Pieterman. From here you drive through the beautiful Monnickendam. In the city center you almost stumble across the monumental buildings with characteristic facades, such as the ancient Town Hall. A museum is located in the Speeltoren, always fun! You drive a bit along the Purmerbos, an exception in the mainly wide lowlands. In Ilpendam you pass a house from 1959, designed by Gerrit Rietveld.'t Twiske is a nature and recreation area that was created, among other things, by peat extraction. Here you have beautiful views over the Stootersplas and the rough marshlands. Broek in Waterland is a beautiful old village where you see many monumental wooden houses, often painted in pastel shades. Back in Monnickendam you can once again enjoy the historic atmosphere when you pass the Grote Kerk.
