Description

From Hoogeloon you drive to Netersel. The Neterselse Heide is named after the nearby Netersel, one of the so-called Eight Beatitudes. In the past they were called'the selligheden\\\', or'the beatitudes\\\'. Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution scornfully called the villages 'the wretchedness' - these were difficult times here. The beautiful old villages are typical of the Brabantse Kempen with their many long-fronted farms. Stop off for a cup of coffee at Boshuys Klein Utrecht! You will also pass a listening point, L103: Thanks to the underground. In 1944, Allied planes were shot down here. A large number of paratroopers and crew members are able to jump from the burning aircraft in time. On the ground they are quickly captured by people from the underground, who hide them in the forest.
