Tour of Lage Mierde and Ravels

Your route starts at Boshuys Klein Utrecht. First you drive a bit across Landgoed De Utrecht. The estate was developed in 1898 as a financial investment by life insurance company De Utrecht. It is now wonderful to cycle here through the extensive and varied forests. Lage Mierde is a beautiful village on your route. Here you can admire the beautiful fifteenth-century village church. Then you will discover the Belgian Kempen between Turnhout and Reusel, an agricultural, forest and stream-rich landscape on the border. You drive along the towpath of the Dessel-Turnhout-Schoten canal, one of the seven Kempen canals between the Maas and Scheldt. This 38 kilometer long waterway was completed in 1875 after 31 years of digging. During the digging, clay layers were found that turned out to be interesting for the brick industry.
