Description
The Bommelerwaard is easy to explore by bicycle. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet and a landscape consisting of grasslands, fields and dikes. From Wellseind you cycle along the Afgedamde Maas, just past Aalst you drive on the path along the Drielse Wetering. You cycle over the Waaldijk to the old fortified town of Zaltbommel. Step off for a moment to soak up the historic atmosphere. You then cycle a few kilometers along the Waaldijk, regularly passing a beautiful old farm. At Bistro In Petto you can stop for a snack and drink, after which you will pass the Reformed Church from 1659. Via the polder you cross to Ammersoyen Castle, one of the best preserved castles in the Netherlands. The route ends at Restaurant & Boutique Hotel Amadeus.
