Your walk starts at Hotel Cafe Kreutzer. From here you can walk straight into the Groote Bos or Groote Bosch. This old nature reserve is a remnant of an old forest that once grew on the entire Crapoel Plateau. You can also walk near Slenaken through the Gulpdal, one of the most beautiful stream valleys in the Netherlands. The Gulp is a fast-flowing tributary of the Geul, the village of Gulpen is named after it. A little further on you cross Landgoed Karsveld, a beautiful spot in the Limburgse Heuvelland with calcareous grasslands, fields and forests, hills and valleys. Hoeve Karsveld is a monumental square farm that is still in use as a dairy farm. Then you walk back through the Groote Bos, a typical slope forest as you still encounter here and there in South Limburg.
