Take your bike across the German border

In North Limburg you will find nature reserves along the Maas that merge into the vast Lower Rhine landscape across the German border. You can make countless cycling trips in these quiet areas. Along the way you will not only pass through beautiful nature reserves, but also through charming German and Dutch towns.

Estates along the border
The starting point of this route is in Twibergen, Germany. From here you cycle across the Dutch border to Landgoed de Hamert. This area of 1084 hectares consists of Meuse meadows, deciduous and coniferous forests, heathlands, fens, raised bogs and fields that alternate rapidly. Then you cycle a bit along the Maas through Broekhuizen and Arcen. You cycle straight through Arcen Estate back to the German border. Here are extensive coniferous and deciduous forests interspersed with patches of grassland. From here you cycle through the town of Auwel-Holt and Lüllingen back to Twisteden.

Guesthouse and Pension Peters
The start and end point of this route is at Gaststätte und Pension Peters. This is the ideal location to recover from your bike ride. Sit back and enjoy typical German meals or a nice cup of coffee. De Maasduinen National Park
Landgoed de Hamert and Langoed Arcen are part of De Maasduinen National Park. This is one of the three national parks of North Limburg. The area consists of forests and heathlands on an elongated high sand ridge. Here you will find the longest river dune belt in the Netherlands. This belt has been created over the centuries by water, wind and man.
