Walking through the Rechtense Veld

A little south of Dalfsen you will find the Rechtense Veld. This is a varied nature reserve with coniferous forests, deciduous forests and heathlands. This was once a drifting sand area and the hills are still visible here. A wonderful area to explore on foot.

Historical buildings
The starting point of this route is on the edge of Dalfsen. From here you can walk straight into the woods in the area. Enjoy the peace and quiet in this nature reserve and admire Havezate Den Berg along the way. It is not known exactly how old this estate is. It was first mentioned in a deed of sale from 1483, so the manor was already there at that time. The estate is currently in the hands of a noble family that has lived in the manor for centuries. Another attraction along the route is the country estate of Den Aalshorst. Until the 17th century this was an ordinary farm. The current house was not built here until 1720.

Grand Café The Old Station
Grand Café Het Oude Station on the edge of Dalfsen is the base of this route. Here you can not only park your car, but also have a cup of coffee, lunch or dinner. Enjoy a tasty meal while you recover from your walk.

Special flora and fauna
In the Rechtense Veld you will find various special plants and animals. For example, the forest horsetail and the royal fern grow here. Breeding birds that feel at home here are the raven, the buzzard, the woodlark and the golden oriole. In addition to birds, dragonflies and special butterflies also live here. This nature reserve used to be grazed by a herd of sheep. The wooden sheepfold in the Rechtense Veld is a reminder of this.
