From city to beach route

The route starts in the center of Rotterdam at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, near the Wereldmuseum. From there you cycle along the quays of the Nieuwe Maas, passing the Euromast and the Lloydkwartier. From here you can take a trip to Historical Delfshaven; a centuries-old neighborhood with characteristic buildings and warehouses. On the way to Schiedam you cycle past the more contemporary ports. Lovers of water and ships can indulge themselves in the old ports of Vlaardingen and a trip to the Vlaardinger Museum is worthwhile. The route continues along the ports of the Nieuwe Waterweg. Here you leave the urban landscape for the wider surroundings of Midden-Delfland. You are now approaching Maassluis; again a historic place with many monumental ships and buildings. After Maassluis you cycle with the Nieuwe Waterweg on your left and the meadow landscape of the Oranjebuitenpolder on your right, to Hoek van Holland. Before you reach the built-up area, you will pass the Maeslantkering; one of the storm surge barriers that protects South Holland during high water. Once you arrive in Hoek van Holland you can cycle to the beach. Or take a trip to the Atlantikwal museum and charge your electric bike for the way back.

By crossing with the fast ferry you can cycle back over the Landtong Rozenburg (via junctions 55 and 28) and take the ferry to Maassluis back to the starting point of the Erasmus Bridge.
