To the castle on the Eese Estate

Your route starts at Residence De Eese, an ideal base for this walk through the De Eese Estate. You first walk along a piece of heathland, an important biotope for reptiles. The estate is largely privately owned and very old. The Eese was first mentioned in 1241. It is a very varied area with forest and agricultural land, you see burial mounds and there are all kinds of animals. The main building on the estate is the Eese house, an old castle from 1619 (not open) that you walk past. It is beautifully situated on an elevated site with a moat surrounding it. From the 17th to 19th century, an extensive avenue structure was constructed here, with a beautiful sight line to the hunting lodge and farm'St. Hubert\\\' from 1881.
