Veere and Veerse Creek for a walk

Veere is one of the most picturesque fortified towns in the Netherlands, but the area is also very worthwhile. You walk here through the quiet polders of the Walcheren Canal to the Veerse Kreek and the Vest van Veere. The creek with its many foothills was created at the end of the Second World War when Walcheren was inundated. Nowadays it is a quiet and beautiful nature reserve where it is wonderful to walk.

The Vierschaar
In Veere, drop by the town hall with its beautiful fifteenth-century facade: it houses the Stadhuismuseum De Vierschaar. The carillon in the tower has been voted one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands. All those historic buildings soon tempt you to slow down.
