Idyllic countryside getaway With its numerous lakes and ponds, the Wermsdorfer Wald is one of the most popular hiking and excursion areas. The hiker embarks on an idyllic countryside getaway on his way to the Collm. The Saxon electorate already highly valued this area.
The hiking trail leads through the forest of Wermsdorf to the cultural monument"Wüstes Schloss Hayn\\\", further to the Silbersee and the donkey fountain up to the Collm. At 314 meters above sea level, the Colm is the highest point in the region and can be seen from afar. From the 18-metre-high, freely accessible Albert Tower, hikers can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the North Saxon region. At the foot of the mountain in the village of Collm, the 1000-year-old lime tree can be admired at the cemetery of Collmer. It is the oldest linden tree in Saxony, is no less than 18 meters high and has a trunk circumference of 11 meters. The way back to Wermsdorf offers interesting and varied forest photos. Back in Wermsdorf, be sure to visit Europe's largest hunting lodge complex, the Hubertusburg.
