100 years of Waalre: (5) Tour of Eastern Neighborhoods

We leave from the Pracht in Kerkdorp-Aalst to go to the first FKP 23 and at the traffic lights but also further along the route we observe the traffic rules, including extending our hand at every exit, we as an organization can and will take took no responsibility whatsoever in any incident!

At FKP 60 there is now Restaurant Leemerhoef where in the past (Napoleon) the loam was extracted to pave the road to Hasselt and Liège, we still belonged to the Diocese of LIEGE at that time. At FKP 71 there used to be a Waalres cafe, before FKP 63 we cross the road at the HTC traffic lights and at FKP 63 we turn right to FKP 58 and go behind the Waalre hole to view the natural grazers, etc.

E.g. One Tank too many, ( DANGEROUS crossing BEWARE here), ICE at de Boer no 49, then also the chance to meet nature grazers again here, Please note! the last 200 meters before FKP 56 is often loose sand. At FKP 25, here DANGEROUS crossing BEWARE , Vlasroot with Visvijver behind it, Energiemolen Volmolen+ Camping and Eetcafe De Volmolen. After FKP 44 the hamlets of Timmereind and Loon with Restaurant't Loon at FKP 91 and the Angelagh, Brabants Genot and Enjoy on the Heikant between the two FKP 45 and't Geveltje activities Farm, Jansen Vleesboer, Loonderhoeve Landscape with its fish ladder, where there used to be a grain water mill and where to the left of the road you can still see the traces of the old Dommel, which used to run as a moat around the castle here in the hamlet of Hulst. On the bridge of the Keersop you can clearly see the current Vistrap and to the left of it there was also a water mill. Between FKP 15 and 01 you will first see the new walking bridge on the right behind FKP 15, then a car/bicycle bridge and then another walking bridge with the Brewery on the other side behind the Keersop (which one?). Between 93 and 98 you can spend the night at Landgoed De Weitens. At FKP 2 is the Malpie Hoeve, but also a DANGEROUS crossing. BEWARE! Between FKP 32 and 33 you will come across a canoe boarding place on the left on the Dommel. Between 33 and 217 and so after the roundabout on the left is Manege Tops and also the largest of the three riding schools located here! The ABBEY and the information center De Groote Heide are located at FKP 217, which has now become private property this year 2023 and here in the information center De Groote Heide magazine 01/02 is available for free. At FKP 54 you will find a real Coop St-Jan store, then the bicycle café De Hospes, a Guild site with a beautiful elevated chapel, a windmill and furthermore at the Nature Management point for FKP 53. And at this FKP the former forest ranger's house, but also with its DANGEROUS crossing BEWARE here at FKP 53! The Heezerhut is located at FKP 80. At FKP 52, the new Bels line used to be a beautiful cycle path that runs behind Camping het Heezerbosch, but now we pass in front of it with a monument of Marken Garde there too. At FKP 61 there is also a monument in front of the church for the sister who founded the first monastery, which created Sterksel. So between 61 and FKP 11 you will pass through their park, with restaurant, art gallery and past the war cemetery with a short detour, but also past the church and the petting zoo. After FKP 11 you pass the Hunting Lodge and the Ice Cellar and the Castle. Take a detour and cycle through the Strabrechtse Heide with its walking route near the sheepfold and restaurant. The Mie Peels Hut (Pils) is located at FKP 66. From here we head back towards FKP 23 to pass the regional aid station before the viaduct, to return to the PRACHT from here and hopefully it was a wonderful day for you!
