Walking along the Heukelomse Beek

This route takes you through nature east of the Limburg Maas village of Aijen. Here you walk through the valley of the Heukelomse Beek. Part of the route is on unpaved paths, so make sure you wear sturdy shoes. While walking you will have plenty of time to enjoy a landscape of grasslands and forests where alders and willow thickets grow. It is wonderfully quiet in this region. Ideal if you want to catch up with your fellow hikers or take your mind off things. From junction 59 you have a glimpse of the Maas. At the beginning of summer you will see pink cuckoo flowers blooming in a number of places, a beautiful view. At the end of the route it is time for a meal at Eetcafé Jaykes.
