Cycling between Utrecht and Loosdrecht is beautiful. The first part of your route takes you along the meandering Stichtse Vecht. There are some beautiful old villas on the dike. Further on you cycle past Fort Tienhoven, which was built in 1850. The fort was part of the New Dutch Waterline. On the left you occasionally have beautiful views over the Loosdrechtse Plassen. You continue on car-free roads through the vast polder land. In the Ruigenhoek recreation area you can not only enjoy the varied natural beauty, but you can also admire the fort of the same name from 1870. Westbroek enjoys a protected village view, you will see monumental farms and a fifteenth-century church. You cycle back to Oud-Zuilen via the Molenpolder nature reserve. At Bistro Belle you can end this route with a delicious meal.
