Your route starts at Recreation Park Dijnselburg. From here you drive straight through the lush forests and heathlands of De Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. You cycle to Fort Rijnauwen via Zeist. This fort was built here between 1868 and 1871 as part of the circle of forts around Utrecht. A little later you drive through the center of Utrecht, which is of course teeming with beautiful historic buildings. For example, on the Oudegracht you can see Stadskasteel Oudaen. Near Groenekan you will pass the nineteenth-century Geesina Mill, which has been made suitable for grinding again. Then you cycle back up the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The wooded area of Den Dolder and Bosch en Duin is known for the majestic villas that wealthy merchants built here as a holiday home around 1900.
