Walking route Nieuwkuijk

This walking route takes you through Nieuwkuijk and the surrounding area. From the starting point you will see some beautiful old houses and farms. You will also pass the Emmamolen. This corn mill dates from 1886 and was named after Queen Emma, the mother of the later Queen Wilhelmina. Just before junction 20 there is a boundary post from 1785 with the coat of arms and the name of Heusden on it. You walk along the Nieuwe Wiel, a pool that was created in 1880 by a dike breach. Then you walk a bit through the Nieuwkuijks Bos, after which you cross the road and walk through the countryside with its damp grasslands and streams. Finally you come through the forest where the originally sixteenth-century Kasteel d\\\'Oultremont is located. You can walk back to the pancake restaurant D'n Berepot at your leisure.
