Walking route Nieuwkuijk

This walking route takes you through Nieuwkuijk and the surrounding area. From the starting point you will see some beautiful old houses and farms. You will also pass the Emmamolen. This corn mill dates from 1886 and was named after Queen Emma, the mother of the later Queen Wilhelmina. Just before junction 20 is a border marker from 1785 with the coat of arms and the name van Heusden on it. You walk along the Nieuwe Wiel, a vortex that was created in 1880 by a dike breach. You then walk a bit through the Nieuwkuijks Bos, after which you cross the road and walk through the countryside with its moist grasslands and streams. Finally, you will pass through the forest where the originally sixteenth-century Castle d\\\'Oultremont stands. At your leisure you walk back to Pannenkoekenrestaurant D'n Berepot.
