Cycling route Meinweg-Roermond

This beautiful route goes through the Meinweg area to the heart of Roermond. A wonderful and peaceful route through nature, alternating with the old city center of Roermond. So lots of variety! You start at De Gitstappermolen. The route follows the valley of the beautifully meandering Rur. You will pass Freymersen Castle, built in 1865. Nearby you will discover the Basilica of HH Wiro, Plechelmus and Otgerus. This dates from the eighth century, when these priests founded an abbey together. Since then, the building has been restored several times, including after the Second World War. In Roermond you will pass the Cuypershuis, where you will learn more about this famous architect, known from the Rijksmuseum. On the way back you make a nice shortcut through the Meinweg, a national park.
