Through the center and the greenery of Breda

Authentic Breda is waiting to be discovered. A pleasant centre where you can enjoy shopping and beautiful green surroundings make Breda well worth a visit. The beautiful Ulvenhoutse Bos, the oldest parts of which were planted more than a thousand years ago, is known for the growth of a wealth of beautiful plants, such as the slender primrose, wood anemone, a single berry, large beetle orchid, yellow avens and white rampion. The old, loamy moist winter oak-beech forest of 112 hectares has been designated as a Natura 2000 area and, like the Mastbos, was planted for the production of wood and hunting. This forest is, as it were, a living museum piece. You can cycle to the Huis van Brecht. This building in the centre of Breda is located on the grounds of Breda Castle. It was built in the second half of the 14th century. The building has had various purposes: it was a forge, a military hospital and in 2015 the Royal Military Academy established a library there. Museum War and Peace shows the objects people had to use during the war. There are also newspapers and documents from 1933 onwards, but the museum also focuses on the themes 'war' and 'peace' in a broader sense of the word.
