This forest and heathland route across the Veluwe starts at Bakkerij Schreuder. Here you can buy artisan bread and fresh delicacies: ideal for a nice picnic on the road! First you drive through the Speulder and Sprielderbos, one of the oldest and most beautiful forests in the Netherlands. Then you ride for miles on cycle paths through the Leuvenumse Bos. Via the Elspeetse Heide you make a shortcut to Vierhouten. Just past junction 18 you pass Museum Het Verscholen Dorp, after which you explore the Gortelse Heide. Many old farms have been preserved in Gortel, and the town enjoys a protected village view. You drive through the woods to Elspeet. Here you will see some beautiful buildings, such as De Hoop, a flour mill from 1894. You drive back to Garderen along the edge of the Houtdorperveld.
