Cycling through Kootwijk Forestry

From Garderen you can relax while cycling on car-free roads past fields and meadows to Ouwendorp. You pass a few beautiful old farms, after which you explore the forests around Nieuw-Milligen. Just past junction 37 you cycle into Boswachterij Kootwijk. Here you drive for miles through a landscape of mixed forest, drifting sand and vast heathlands. Now that's a nature route! You will also pass Radio Kootwijk, which was built in the 1920s for radio telegraphic contact with the then Dutch East Indies. The area around the former transmitter is a protected villagescape. Hoog-Buurlo is a unique old settlement of two sheepfolds and two houses surrounded by stately beech avenues and fields with wild banks. You drive back through the Boeschoter Bos to Bakery Schreuder.
