Cycling through rolling Gaasterland

From Herberg Boswijck B&B you drive into the vast polders around Wijckel. As you cycle along car-free roads, you enjoy the views and the tranquility. From Hooibergen the landscape begins to gently undulate. Here you can also see the forests for which Gaasterland is known. For example, at junction 17 you cycle a bit along the Rijsterbos. This nature reserve was already created in the seventeenth century by a regent family. Further on you pass through the Elfbergen, the largest forest in Gaasterland. In the adjacent Lycklama forest you drive between old beech and oak trees. During this route you will not lack Frisian cultural history.
