With a walk you will really discover how beautiful Leiden is. This route takes you past some iconic places. You pass the Morspoort from 1669, the associated Morspoort bridge was built for the first time in 1611. You cross the Galgewater via a replica of the seventeenth-century Rembrandt Bridge. Then you walk on the centuries-old Rapenburg: the most famous canal in Leiden. The Van der Werf Park was built in 1886 on the spot where the devastating Leiden gunpowder disaster took place in 1807. In the Breestraat you pass the sixteenth-century town hall, after the Hooglandse Church you pass the Sint Annahofje, which was founded in 1492. Via the Ankerpark you walk to the Zijlpoort from 1667, past the Oude Vest and the Boerhave Museum you walk to Catwalk Coffee & Lunch.
