Description

Nearby you have some beautiful views of the IJzeren Man. This recreational lake is named after the steam dredger that dug the pit in the nineteenth century. National Park de Loonse & Drunense Duinen is an oasis of peace between a number of large Brabant cities. The 3500 large area is also sometimes called the Brabant Sahara: nowhere in Europe are there living drifting sands on such a large scale. Yet this national park consists of more than sand. You drive through dense deciduous and coniferous forests, fresh stream valleys and heathlands that turn a beautiful purple in August. On the north side you come through the beautiful historic hamlet of Giersbergen. Cromvoirt is also a nice authentic village.
