Kromme Rijnpad

The Kromme Rijnpad connects the centers of Utrecht and Wijk bij Duurstede for the walker. The 29 km long hiking trail largely follows the former towpath along the Kromme Rijn. This path was still present and busy between Utrecht and Odijk, but the section up to Wijk bij Duurstede had disappeared over the years.

Along the Kromme Rijn is Museum Oud Amelisweerd (MOA), which has been open to the public since August 2012. MOA shows three collections in cohesion: the Armando collection, the country estate and the globally unique Chinese wallpaper. Combine your walk with a visit to this house of art in nature.

In addition to a beautiful walking path, the Kromme Rijn also has a large number of meters of nature-friendly banks. These banks provide better water quality and living space for plants and animals. Path and banks were constructed at the same time. In total, about seven km of nature-friendly banks have been realized along the entire length of the Kromme Rijn.

Signage and route information
The walking path is signposted in two directions along its entire length and is described in a route guide. In two places, in Wijk bij Duurstede and in Utrecht (Amelisweerd), large information panels have been placed that provide an overview of the entire route. Small panels have been placed in seven places.
