Your route starts at Boscafe De Beken. After a cup of coffee, lace up your hiking boots. You'll immediately walk through the Renkums Beekdal, an ecological corridor between the Veluwe and the Rhine. The valley boasts valuable natural habitats with wet meadows, springs with clean spring water, and diverse forests. Its bowl-shaped form originated during the penultimate ice age, when meltwater from continental ice eroded the valley. Numerous streams crisscross the area. You'll walk through the woods to Wageningen, a green student city with many arboretums. Here you'll discover the Belmonte Estate, now the Belmonte Arboretum botanical garden. Its unique location atop a moraine ridge offers surprising vistas of the Lower Rhine and the characteristic landscape of the Betuwe region. A wonderfully varied walk!
